چکیده

Transport of [14C]tetraethylammonium (TEA), an organic cation, was studied in brush-border (BBMV) and basolateral (BLMV) membrane vesicles isolated from rabbit kidney cortex. In BBMV, the presence of an outwardly directed H+ gradient induced a marked stimulation of TEA uptake against its concentration gradient (overshoot phenomenon), whereas a valinomycin-induced inside-negative potential had no effect on TEA uptake. In BLMV, TEA uptake was significantly stimulated by the presence of an outwardly directed H+ gradient and by an inside-negative potential, but the effect of H+ gradient was absent when the vesicles

Engraftment of plasma membrane vesicles into liposomes: A new method for designing of liposome-based vaccines

Objective(s):One of the major challenges in the field of vaccine design is choosing immunogenic antigens which can induce a proper immune response against complex targets like malignant cells or recondite diseases caused by protozoan parasites such as leishmaniasis. The aim of this study was to find a way to construct artificial liposome-based cells containing fragments of target’s cell membran...

Role of microtubules in fusion of post-Golgi vesicles to the plasma membrane.

Biosynthetic cargo is transported away from the Golgi in vesicles via microtubules. In the cell periphery the vesicles are believed to engage actin and then dock to fusion sites at the plasma membrane. Using dual-color total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy, we observed that microtubules extended within 100 nm of the plasma membrane and post-Golgi vesicles remained on microtubules up...

یافته های تازه درباره سلولهای پاریتال معده

During the last five years the recognition of ionic channels in the parietal cells of stomach and acid chloride mechanisms of secretion by these cells has become totally clear by the "Patch Oamp" technique. The apical cytoplasm in the oxyntic cells are in the form of vesicles where membranes contain H+, K+ -ATPase pump. Stimulation causes fusion of these tubular vesicles with the cell membran o...

GLUT4 ready to go

GLUT4 ready to go esicles containing the glucose transporter GLUT4 travel rapidly on a microtubule network that lies just under the plasma membrane in resting cells, according to results from Lizunov et al. (page 481). The vesicles occasionally touch the plasma membrane and, when stimulated by insulin, quickly fuse with it. GLUT4 is sequestered in vesicles in resting cells. Insulin exposure ind...

Binding and Fusion of Extracellular Vesicles to the Plasma Membrane of Their Cell Targets

Exosomes and ectosomes, extracellular vesicles of two types generated by all cells at multivesicular bodies and the plasma membrane, respectively, play critical roles in physiology and pathology. A key mechanism of their function, analogous for both types of vesicles, is the fusion of their membrane to the plasma membrane of specific target cells, followed by discharge to the cytoplasm of their...

UNC-13 and UNC-10/rim localize synaptic vesicles to specific membrane domains.

Synaptic vesicles undergo a maturation step, termed priming, in which they become competent to fuse with the plasma membrane. To morphologically define the site of vesicle priming and identify fusion-competent synaptic vesicles, we combined a rapid physical-fixation technique with immunogold staining and high-resolution morphometric analysis at Caenorhabditis elegans neuromuscular junctions. In...
